Absconding Report

A UAE absconding report is a complaint filed by an employer or sponsor stating that a worker has left their job or stopped reporting to work without authorisation. It can lead to fines, a labour or immigration ban, and blocked status until it is resolved.

An absconding report is a formal notification, usually filed by an employer through MOHRE (for workers) or by a sponsor for domestic staff, alleging that the person has abandoned their job or left their sponsor without permission. It is the UAE equivalent of the absconding or 'huroob'-style complaint seen elsewhere in the GCC.

An active absconding report can have serious consequences, including fines, a ban on new employment, and difficulty cancelling or transferring a visa. There is normally a window in which the worker can respond, settle the matter, or have the report cancelled if it was filed wrongly or the dispute is resolved, often referenced as a period of around 90 days for certain cases.

Because the report affects both immigration and labour status, workers who believe an absconding case was filed unfairly may contest it through MOHRE or the relevant immigration authority. The exact process, deadlines, and any fines depend on the worker category and the current rules.
