OTP failure is almost always a mismatch between the SIM you are receiving messages on and the mobile number registered against your civil number with ROP. After a SIM change, number port, or lost phone, visit a Sanad office or a ROP centre with your passport and resident card to update the registered number. The portal cannot reset this without verification at a physical office.

Dependent and worker residence issuance is filed under the sponsor's ROP account - the employer for employment visas, or the principal sponsor for family visas. The OMR 20 lost-or-damaged replacement fee is unchanged. Confirm the per-year multiplier and any minimum-validity threshold on rop.gov.om before committing to a long renewal.

For most residents a 2-3 year choice balances flexibility and cost; the 10-year option suits established residents with stable employment.

Oman residency is voided quietly if the resident is continuously absent from the country for more than 6 months without prior re-entry permission. The rule applies to all employment and family residence categories. ROP eServices does not send a warning before the 6-month threshold and the visa-check service continues to show residence as 'valid' until the in-system check runs at the next entry attempt - at which point the resident may be refused boarding or turned back at Muscat airport. Mitigation: file a re-entry permit through the sponsor's ROP account before any planned absence exceeding 6 months (typical fee OMR 5-10, valid for 6 additional months extending the absence window to 12). For unplanned absences, contact the sponsor as soon as the 5-month mark approaches and have them file the re-entry from inside Oman. Voided residency requires a fresh visa from scratch.

The 25% early-payment discount runs from the violation date, not the notification date.
