Labour Card

A UAE labour card is the document issued by MOHRE that records an employee's registered job, employer, and labour contract in the private sector. It confirms that a worker is legally employed and linked to a specific company.

The labour card is issued by the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) to private-sector employees. It is the record that ties a worker to a sponsoring employer and a registered labour contract, listing the job title, employer, and contract terms.

The labour card is closely connected to the MOHRE work permit and to the residence visa; together they make the employment legal. Details on the card should match the actual job and the signed contract, since mismatches can cause problems with renewals, end-of-service claims, or disputes. Workers can verify their contract and card details through MOHRE's online channels and the app.

The card is renewed with the work permit and residence visa, and it is cancelled when employment ends. Government and free-zone employees are governed by their own authorities, so this MOHRE labour card applies mainly to mainland private-sector roles.
