What is Tasheel?
Tasheel (Arabic for 'facilitation') is the authorised service-centre channel operated under the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) for processing private-sector labour and employment transactions in the UAE. Tasheel centres serve as the labour-side counterpart to immigration service centres like Amer, focusing on employment paperwork rather than residency and visa documents.
Tasheel was introduced to bring consistency and efficiency to the process of registering work permits, employment contracts, and other MOHRE transactions that employers must complete before or alongside a residence visa application through ICP or GDRFA.

How to use Tasheel
- Confirm eligibility: ensure your company's trade licence and MOHRE establishment account are active and in good standing. A suspended or non-compliant establishment cannot process new work permits.
- Gather the required documents: typically a valid trade licence, the employee's passport copy, educational certificates, and a signed employment contract. Exact requirements depend on the job category and visa type.
- Visit a Tasheel service centre or submit through the MOHRE online portal at mohre.gov.ae. Centre-based submissions are common for new work permits, while many renewals can be handled digitally.
- Pay the applicable government fee and service charge. Fees vary by worker category and transaction type. Always confirm current amounts on the MOHRE portal before visiting the centre.
- Receive the work-permit approval document, which is then used as a supporting document for the immigration step: the entry permit application through ICP or GDRFA.
What expats and employers use Tasheel for
Mainland private-sector employers use Tasheel as the starting point for bringing in new staff. The MOHRE work permit is one of the key prerequisites for an employee's entry permit and residence visa. Without an approved work permit, the immigration process generally cannot begin.
Employees can also visit a Tasheel centre or check the MOHRE portal to verify that their work permit has been correctly registered and matches their employment contract. Discrepancies between the actual job title or employer name and the registered permit can cause complications during visa renewals and may require a correction through MOHRE before proceeding.
Tasheel services apply to mainland private-sector employers. Free-zone companies are generally regulated by their own free-zone authority and do not use the Tasheel channel for work permits. Some employees may have a mainland work permit while working near or in a free zone depending on their contract structure.
